The CEO of ONE Championship, Chatri Sityodtong, recently discussed the latest news regarding the Lee siblings, Angela and Christian, who have dominated three divisions in the world of MMA under the banner of ONE Championship. The Lee family has taken a step back from the sport that catapulted them to fame due to a profound tragedy that struck their lives.

Towards the end of last year, on the day after Christmas, Victoria Lee, an athlete in the ONE Women's Atomweight division and the younger sister of Angela and Christian Lee, passed away. The departure of their beloved sibling has deeply shaken the Lee family, and the pain persists even now. When asked about the current situation of Angela and Christian Lee after the loss, Chatri spoke up. In an interview following ONE Fight Night 11 on Saturday last week (June 10th), the head honcho of ONE Championship talked about several possibilities that may unfold.

"I spoke to Angela recently, and she expressed her desire to retire. Yes, she has been contemplating it," said Chatri.

"I told her that I would support her decision, whatever it may be," he continued. However, Christian Lee, on the other hand, had a different response. Still grieving, "The Warrior" stated that he needs more time.

"I haven't discussed work matters with Christian [Lee] since Victoria's passing six or seven months ago. Will he return? He has mentioned that he needs more time to mourn," Chatri further explained.

While awaiting certainty, Chatri has already confirmed the introduction of an interim belt in the ONE Women's Atomweight division to be contested this year. On one hand, he also seeks Christian's approval for an interim belt in the ONE Lightweight and Welterweight divisions.

"So, I am asking for Christian's blessing to hold an interim belt in the lightweight and welterweight divisions," concluded Chatri.

The loss of Victoria Lee at the end of last year continues to leave a deep void in the Lee family, renowned for their martial arts prowess. Ken Lee, the head coach and head of the Lee family, has even decided to retire from teaching.

His retirement from MMA prompted the closure of the Hawaii United MMA gym, which had been the backbone of the Lee family for several months following the tragic news.

Victoria Lee and Her Legacy

Having competed in the ONE Women's Atomweight division, "The Prodigy" was hailed as a potential MMA world champion. This was due to her undefeated record of 3-0 and her status as the younger sister of world champions Angela Lee and Christian Lee.

However, she passed away on December 26, 2022, just a day before Christmas. She was originally scheduled to face Indian striker Zeba Bano at ONE Fight Night 6 on January 13th.

Although the fight never took place, the world still remembers the brilliant young woman that she was. ONE Championship has designated January 13th as Victoria's Day, dedicated to commemorating her kindness and remarkable spirit.
