The media in India is buzzing with leaks about the upcoming third-generation Toyota Fortuner. It is rumored to have a global debut in early 2024.

The popularity of the Fortuner in the Bharata Land is exceptionally high. The same goes for Indonesia, where this ladder frame SUV has become a beloved daily vehicle.

For now, let's examine the leaked images of the supposed future model. Unfortunately, they are still quite blurry and unclear.

According to Gaadiwaadi, these images are digital renderings of a prototype model. So, we shouldn't immediately believe that the new Fortuner will look like this in the future. However, if we choose to believe it, it still seems plausible.

Its robust character is still evident, while also showcasing the latest design language of Toyota models. It is said to be inspired by the new generation Tacoma, which recently made its debut.

If it follows the rugged appearance of the Tacoma, it will surely be appealing. From the leaked images, we can see a large hexagonal grille flanked by sleek LED headlights.

Beneath the lights, there is a wide integrated air dam. The side profile remains large and imposing. The wheel arches feature new design alloy wheels, and there is a shoulder bump on the C-pillar.

Other rumors suggest that the new Toyota Fortuner will adopt the TNGA-F platform. If true, it means it will share the same architecture as the Tundra, Tacoma, Land Cruiser, Lexus GX, and Lexus LX.

It seems a bit unusual since all those models fall under the full-size SUV category, while the Fortuner belongs to a lower class. However, this is Toyota's latest ladder frame chassis development. It is highly unlikely for the Fortuner to switch to a monocoque structure, let alone become a front-wheel-drive (FWD) vehicle.

One of the most anticipated aspects is the engine. It is said to retain the 2.8L GD series diesel engine while incorporating hybrid technology. However, it won't be a strong hybrid like the Innova Zenix; instead, it will have a mild-hybrid system.

This system will improve efficiency by utilizing the electric motor as an alternator and utilizing a 48V battery. It may also include an auto start/stop engine function similar to Suzuki's smart hybrid.

Once again, there is no confirmed information at the moment. Everything is still in the realm of rumors and speculation. However, there is no harm in hoping for significant improvements in the Fortuner.

At the very least, we can expect a more spacious cabin, enhanced driving comfort, a more comprehensive range of features, and the inclusion of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
